On September 24, 2005, Hurricane Rita passed through Cameron Parish.
On Saturday, October 15, Lisa and I went with my parents to check on their bird-watching camp near Johnson's Bayou. The eye of Rita had come ashore a few miles to the west, and their neighborhood had therefore received a massive storm surge as well as Category 3 winds.
